Nubra and Shyok Valleys

Nubra Valley about 150 km north of Leh is where the Shyok River meets the Siachan River to form a large valley seperating the Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. The Shyok valley is to the west of Nubra valley.

Nubra valley region strikingly different from other parts of Leh Ladakh is a must visit place in Leh Ladakh. You may choose between Diskit Panamik Hunder or Turtuk for your stay in Nubra and Shyok Valleys.

Diskit gompa about 15 km off the Khalsar - Panamik route a little ahead of Khalsar is a must visit while you are in Nubra valley.

Local Sightseeing in Leh

There are a few places in Leh town which you should visit during your stay in Leh town. The Khar which houses the Leh palace Tsemo Castle and Namgyal Gompa on the same hills and Shanti Stupa built on a hilltop in Changspa region of Leh are two places one must visit. The 'Hall of Fame' with information on Ladakh's culture and it's people and a section about Siachin glacier and life of army men in Siachin glacier is a must visit.

Lakes in Leh Ladakh

A trip to Pangong Tso is a must do during a trip to Leh adakh. Ideally a trip to Pangong Tso should be done over two days so that you can see the beauty of a sunrise over the lake and sunset as well. Apart from Pangong Tso there are two more alpine lakes in Leh Ladakh. Tso Kar and Tso Moriri in Changthang region of which Tso Moriri is the largest high altitude lake that is entirely in Indian Territory.
